Learning all about WATER! WOW our Wittenbach staff is A M A Z I N G! We certainly are LUCKY to have them! We learned about bodies of water and the importance of protecting and conserving water resources. We did an activity where the staff read a story about the FLAT RIVER and we were ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS in polluting it! We learned that simple things like washing our car at the car wash instead of at home helps! We decided that we really didn't want to drink or swim in that water after all of those pollutants were in there! We took water samples from the creek and the swamp. We took temperatures of both and found lots of LIVING CREATURES! We had fun identifying our creatures. We may have had some wet feet... sorry... we were learning and loving it! This learning hopefully will lead right into our writing assessment that the students will do... COMPARING and CONTRASTING BODIES of WATER! I am hopeful that the learning at Wittenbach will lead them to excellent ideas on their writing! Thank you again Wittenbach for all of the EXCELLENT HANDS ON LEARNING! ON THE BUS! Scientists, mathematicians and explorers...collecting data! LUNCH!! Exploring with the other group...

Dance Party EXERCISE FLASHLIGHT READING GUM Day Helping out at our school Using an antique travel trunk filled with historical objects, Grandma’s Trunk is a unique and exciting way of helping students begin to understand our historical past. Using historical objects such as a flat iron, butter churn and a corn planter, the presenters weave a story of the typical Michigan pioneer work-week. Using the belief that children learn best when multiple senses are involved in learning, each child will have the opportunity to handle and manipulate the items from Grandma’s Trunk. An Activity Book provides post visit learning and reinforces the experience. Taken from: Lowell Area Historical Museum: http://www.lowellmuseum.org/?page_id=99 With GREAT THANKS to LOWELL COMMUNITY WELLNESS each 2nd grade class here at Cherry Creek has been able to visit Lowell Senior Neighbors once this year. As a culminating event we are having a concert here with Carol Johnson on May 21.
Pictured, here students are making invitations for our Senior Neighbor friends with Mrs. Kirkpatrick's class! |
