We read GO AWAY BIG GREEN MONSTER by Ed Emberley!! WE made our own green monsters which are hanging in the office, and even made green monsters goodies to eat!!
We also read: If You're a Monster and You Know It and There was an Old Monster by Rebecca Emberley, Illustrated by Ed Emberley. Here is the link to those two songs: http://www.scholastic.com/media/audio/books/therewasanoldmonster3.mp3 http://www.scholastic.com/ifyoureamonsterandyouknowit This week was fun filled again with MATH STATIONS we loved. B: Buddy Games was TOP IT using objects to represent each number so students had a visual of which number was BIGGER. This game is what we grew up knowing as "WAR." U: Using Manipulatives this week was to sort by COLOR, then SIZE, and SHAPE. We had to work together as a TEAM which was a challenge for some groups. I: Independent Work: Gumball umbers where we worked on matching quantities and writing numbers. L: Learning Numbers this week we used Pattern Blocks to make numbers 0-10. D: Doing math was working on the number 7. Finding the number 7 and writing the number 7. I am so excited to be working with small groups during Daily 5 time. I typically work with a group of 3 or 4 students at a time. Last week we focused a great deal on pointing to each word as we read... Here you see the students using FUN POINTER fingers!!!! We worked on counting how many words were in sentences. We also talked about using the words and the pictures to help us read. We did a lot of work on syllable sorting as well. We are busy readers in KINDERGARTEN!! Here we are doing WORD WORK!!! Fun finger pointer!!!!!
